Day 1 Honorable Or Horrible

The Bible rightly declares that marriage is honorable. However, does this infer that being single is less honorable? Or maybe even horrible? Regardless of our varying theological or soteriological perspectives amongst a vast and diverse community of believers known to the world as Christianity, there might be one foundation on which we unanimously agree: no believer desires bachelorhood.

The desire for companionship stemmed from the account of Creation when God caused Adam’s rib to materialize as Eve. Furthermore, the explanation given unto us, which led to this phenomenon, only intensifies the companionship desire: “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.” (Genesis 2:18 NLT)

Hearing parents say, “You should not be single. When will you marry and give us grandchildren?” Alternatively, even friends, “I think it is time you find someone and settle down.” can become annoying, but bearable. Nevertheless, how does one even begin to process The Creator –God –stating, “It is not good to be alone,” when you are, in fact, alone?

One might wonder, “Who is ‘just right’ for me?” “Will I ever meet mister or miss ‘just right’?” “What if I die alone?”

If the intention of God concerning relationship status is not correctly processed, one can become sucked into a vortex of despair, destroying their walk with Christ.
