Worthy: 10 Mindful Moments to Bring Peace to Your DayExemplo
Release the Weight of the World
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world. JOHN 16:33
When the world feels overwhelming, divided, and hopeless with constant bad news, remember that it’s okay to take a mental break. Too much negative media has been known to exacerbate our mental health, which doesn’t serve anyone well in the end. We were never meant to carry all the world’s problems on our own, and drawing boundaries around your media intake doesn’t make you less concerned.
Reacting as emotions rise and fall with every breaking story is easy. Still, it takes intentionality and discernment to take a step back, align with our convictions, and understand what we can do to shift our focus and energy toward sowing where we are called to in this world. And that role will look different for everyone. First Corinthians 12:14–15 reminds us that “the body has many different parts, not just one part. If the foot says, ‘I am not a part of the body because I am not a hand,’ that does not make it any less a part of the body” (NLT). You are no less because you choose to act with intention—instead of reaction—by focusing on the areas in which you’re most effective.
So take care of yourself, stay rooted, and sow what it is that you want to see more of in the world, starting by example in the ways that are true to you.
AFFIRMATION:
I can pause and reclaim my mind to clarify how I respond to the world around me.
