A Time to Keep Silent and a Time to SpeakExemplo

A Time to Keep Silent and a Time to Speak

Dia 4 de 13

Open your mouth to glorify God

“You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent.” (Psalm 30:11-12)

As we saw yesterday, it is good to call on God when you are in need. But it is equally important to honor Him when He has saved you! The connection between distress, rescue and thanksgiving is also made in Psalm 50, where the Lord encourages His children, “Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, … and you shall glorify me” (Psalm 50:15).

God does not need anything from us humans. But He rejoices when we sing praise to Him with grateful hearts. This can be done when we are alone at home or “in the midst of the congregation,” as several Psalms indicate. If we tell others how the Lord has blessed us, it has the additional positive effect that they are encouraged by our testimony, and exhorted to praise God with us. That way, God is glorified even more!

So don't remain silent when you are happy and thankful, but praise God with your heart and voice! (see 1 Chronicles 16:34) He is more than worth it!

What can you thank God for today?
