Living a Blessed LifeExemplo
Scripture
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God” Matthew 5:9
Blessed are the peacemakers, those who seek to bring His peace into every situation and circumstance of life. Those who seek to bring the peace of being under His rule and His reign into the hearts and lives of others. This does not mean that everything around you will always be peaceful. Sometimes there is a peace that comes only on the other side of war, on the other side of repentance, on the other side of hardship. True peace is only found in those who have fully yielded to His will and way.
But could Jesus mean something more? Is there something else he was trying to say when He called us peacemakers? The word peace in the New Testament comes from a medical world. It was the word used when a physician set a broken bone, and after the break was fully healed, he would declare the bone at peace–no more brokenness, sound, whole.
I think Jesus was saying, “Blessed are those who inject themselves into broken places of life, bringing My healing grace and love. Blessed are those who become the healing balm of a broken, young girl needing restoration. Blessed are those who become the healing balm in a broken marriage. Blessed are those who are the healing salve for a grieving, young widow at the loss of her husband.” Jesus constantly placed Himself in the midst of the broken. He WAS, and He IS the healer of brokenness–the Peacemaker. But He needs human beings to carry Him into the broken world. He needs you and me. He needs peacemakers!
The Promise: They shall be called the sons of God. Why? Because we are living just like Him, and He is living within us. We are living as the healers of the broken world we live in. We will truly be seen by the world and heaven as sons of God, for we are living upon the earth like God is in heaven–trying to bring His great healing peace into the hearts and lives of men.
Prayer: Lord, teach us to become people of peace. Open our eyes to the broken and hurting people around us, and give us wisdom in bringing peace to their situation. Let us be your hands and feet of peace across this earth. We want to be the sons (and daughters) of God. We want to bring your peace into the hearts and lives of those around us.
