Gotta Give Him Glory
When you’re feeling down, what’s the first thing you do? Do you focus on the problem or do you put on your PRAISE and focus on the God who has the answer to the problem?
In my own life I have learned that in hard seasons, praise is the last thing on my mind because it’s uncomfortable. When I’m going through a valley, the last thing I want to do is dance. When I can’t see to the other side of my breakthrough, the last thing I want to do is shout to God. And yet that’s exactly what He tells us to do!
When we are shouting and dancing for the glory of the Lord, it makes it very difficult to focus on anything else but Him. Gotta Give Him Glory is a declaration of unapologetic praise. “How could I keep still or keep quiet, when You’re so good to me…gotta give Him glory!”
“Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples! Shout to God with the voice of triumph! For the LORD Most High is awesome; He is a great King over all the earth.” Psalm 47:1-2
I love that through the author, God didn’t differentiate between personalities or people groups when talking about praise. My Bible says “all you people”! Whether you’re shy or outgoing, whether you’re happy or sad, whether the report was good or it was bad, PRAISE!
Praise is more than just a tool to thank God for what He has done, but it is a weapon against the enemy. When all hell is breaking loose in your life, you can still give God thanks for the breakthrough you’ve yet to see, and when you do, you immobilize the power of the enemy over your situation. Praise opens up an atmosphere of faith where anything can happen!
“Yet you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel.” Psalm 22:3
God inhabits the praises of His people. When we lift Him up over our circumstances, in the good times and in the bad, we create a throne for God to come and sit in our midst. Who sits on a throne? A king. What does a king do? He rules and he reigns. When we praise God, when we’ve just “gotta give Him glory,” we create an atmosphere for Him to come and rule and reign in every area of our lives.
My prayer for you is that God would give you a fresh shout of praise today. I pray that wherever you find yourself in life right now that you would choose praise. Choose to give glory to God. There is power in your praise!
