6 Prayers for Engaged Couples Exemplo
God at the Center
I love the scripture that we are referencing today in Matthew. It puts some things that we tend to get mixed up back into the right order. Loving God with our whole being is exactly what God wants from us. We were created to worship Him and to love Him. When we do, peace and confidence engulfs us.
Then the next part is the difficult part for many of us. We are to love ourselves; and in doing so we can then love others in the very best way possible. The first person that needs to be the recipient of that love is the person we plan to spend the rest of our life with.
Think about this. When we love God first and our future spouse second, and when they love us in the same way back, we create our own cord of three strands: one man, one woman, and God, knit as tightly together as possible.
It is valuable to pray prayers that line up with God’s word. So today pray this prayer together, inviting God to be at the center of your relationship from today on.
Prayer:
Lord, help us to put You at the center of our relationship and keep You there as we work towards marriage. May You be the foundation of our lives. Help us to stay the course of faithfulness and devotion to You; to walk in Your ways and not the ways of the world. Provide us discernment when it comes to Your Spirit. Give us eyes to see and ears to hear Your Spirit. Help us to walk in obedience to You. Place in us a hunger for more of You and help us to flee from the distractions of this world. Amen!
