Truth bomb 💣

Have you ever dropped a few truth bombs? Have you ever seen anyone drop a microphone on purpose as a sign of victory?

Jesus returned to Jerusalem with great fanfare. The crowds were mobbing Him with acclamations of prophetic significance: “‘Hosanna to the Son of David! “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!” Hosanna in the highest!’” (Matthew 21:9, NKJV)

He could have used that momentum to start a new political revival or rebellion against the Roman oppressors. But Jesus didn’t come to bring temporary solutions to eternal problems. Instead, Jesus proclaimed, “‘The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed.’” (Luke 4:18, NKJV)

Do you need Jesus to help solve your problems? Are you addicted to pain medications or another substance? Are you stuck in a bad relationship?

Jesus is the truth teller: “‘And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.’” (John 8:32, NKJV) He entered Jerusalem and spent one week dropping truth bombs: “Then Jesus went into the temple of God and drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves.” (Matthew 21:12, NKJV)

It’s no wonder the mood of the people changed so dramatically. Their shouts of “‘...Hosanna in the highest!’” (Matthew 21:9, NKJV) quickly turned to “...‘Crucify Him, crucify Him!’” (Luke 23:21, NKJV)

I’ve always said, “the truth sets you free, but first, it makes you really mad.” The truth was met with anger, rage, plotting, betrayal, and eventually murder. Jesus confronted a few things:

  1. He confronted the religious people who had a money-making business in the temple. Jesus wanted to re-establish the purity of the temple.
  2. He opposed unrighteous business practices. Jesus definitely upset their apple carts.
  3. Jesus challenged them to restore the temple to a house of prayer.
  4. He healed the lame and blind. Healing people validated His authority, but it also exposed  the leaders. They had no power to heal but liked exerting their authority.

During this Holy Week, would you invite the Spirit of Truth to fill your heart and mind? Would you give Him and others permission to speak the truth into your life? It’s time because you are a miracle.

Your friend, Paul Marc Goulet
