Day 8- Protection Over My Finances
- God’s Word
And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19 (NLT)
- Today’s Thought
This passage is taken from a letter written by the Apostle Paul to the church in Philippi while he was chained to a soldier in a Roman prison. He was reminding the church that God had always taken care of him and provided for his every need as he had given his life for the cause of Christ. Even when it seemed like Paul should have been negative about his situation, he could look back and know his God had been faithful and provided in the past, and he knew his God would be faithful to him in the future.
We can trust God in this same way! He is our provider (Genesis 22:14), and He is our protector. He can protect that which we have committed to Him. In our world, where finances can quickly be depleted or lost in a short amount of time, we can trust our God to protect us and give us spiritual wisdom to make wise choices with the resources He has given to us. We should make it the most genuine intention of our hearts and lives not just to have enough to live but to have enough to give as well.
As we continue to pray this prayer of blessing over family, friends, and our future, let's pray that God will protect our finances.
- My Prayer
May the LORD bless you and protect you. May the LORD smile on you and be gracious to you. May the LORD show you his favor and give you his peace. Numbers 6:24-26 (NLT)
Heavenly Father, today I thank you that you are the God who provides and protects. Today I ask that you protect the resources that you have given to me. I pray that I will make wise decisions to steward those resources to make an eternal impact. I pray the same over my family, my friends, my church, and my future. Thank you, God, that I can confidently say the Lord is my helper, and He will protect me. In Jesus' name, Amen!

For 20 years, Michelle's father, Dr. Rod Masteller, used "5 P's" taken from the prayer of Aaron to serve as a daily guide to pray God's blessings over his life, family, and friends. In his honor, we have written this devotional as a framework to help you focus on praying for God's provision, protection, presence, power, and peace.
