Everyday Life in Revelation: Part 3 HeavenExemplo

Everyday Life in Revelation: Part 3 Heaven

Dia 1 de 5

Revelation is less about the specifics of our future and more about the inner working of creation. We see this here. We think governors, kings and presidents are running things on Planet Earth. Yet in John’s vision, we see who is truly in control—the Lord Almighty.

John hears a voice calling him into heaven. He is to see what must take place. The Lord is not hiding His will from His people. Rather, He is showing us His will through the eyes of John.

In heaven, John sees a throne and one seated upon the throne. We see a very broad description, with neat symbolism of the one on the throne. We have an understanding of luminosity, the brilliance of the glory of God. John sees a rainbow around the Lord’s throne.  It resembles a rainbow in many shades of green. This rainbow is present for a reminder that God is gracious and will not destroy His people.

There are 24 smaller thrones, with 24 elders seated on them. This is likely a blending of the old and new—the 12 tribes of Israel and the 12 apostles. God is surrounded by His people through all the ages.

We get a sense of God’s power. His power does not promise that we will never have hard times. It does promise that God has a plan and a purpose, even when we do not understand it. We can trust Him.

What is going on in your life today that you need to put your trust in God?
