Resilient: Bounce Back When Life Knocks You DownExemplo
Resilient through Rejection
Resilience is the ability to recover quickly from difficult situations. It is the ability to adapt to uncomfortable circumstances in order to overcome the adversity that has been set before you. Some of us have an innate ability to be resilient. On the other hand, some of us struggle to find our way when life throws us a curveball.
I remember my first curveball. It was when I was fifteen years old. I made an unwise decision outside of God’s will to have sex prematurely, and I got pregnant. I was devastated, true enough, but what hurt me more than that was that I was rejected by my father. It was a painful time for me. Not only was I rejected by my father, but I also faced rejection at church and school. To make matters worse, my boyfriend and I broke up early on in my pregnancy. I couldn’t fathom how one moment of indecision changed the entire course of my life forever.
When we face rejection, we are placed in a vulnerable state. Because of our rejection, we lower our standards. We settle for less than we deserve. We walk around wanting and longing for validation. We become victims of our own pain as a result of the rejection. It’s hard bouncing back from rejection because rejection leaves you feeling unwanted, inadequate and sometimes unloved. But I’ve come to tell you that there is a Lord and Savior who will never reject you no matter what you have done. Our God stands waiting and ready to receive you into His loving arms. All you have to do is run to Him.
The enemy will have you to believe that because man has rejected you, God will reject you as well. But the enemy is a liar! The enemy had me believing that God would reject me because of my mistakes; that because my father couldn’t accept me as I was at the time, that God wouldn’t accept me either. Don’t fall into the trap of the enemy the way that I did. Satan wants you to run away from God instead of running to Him. It is Satan’s goal to steal your peace and destroy your future.
How do you become resilient through rejection? First things first. Run to God with the pain of rejection. Don’t try to handle it on your own. God is concerned about everything we are concerned about. When we are hurting, He knows, and He cares. Face it my sister and brother, you are not alone in this thing called life. Secondly, you have to trust the process. Whether the magnitude is minute or great, you have to work through it one step at a time and trust that God is there to deliver you from the depths of your own truth.
Prayer:
Father God, thank You for always being there. Thank You for always being a present help during the time of trouble. I thank You for always allowing me to run into Your loving arms. I thank You in advance for delivering me from the pain of my rejection. I ask, God, that You help me to trust You and trust the process of my healing. Help me as I lean not on my own understanding and trust that the rejection I feel right now is working out for my good. I know You have great things in store for me. I know that the hurt I feel right now is making me stronger. I ask God that You help to forgive those who have rejected me. In Jesus's name, Amen.
