The Light of His PresenceExemplo
Day Five: A Prayer to Experience Holiness
Holy Lord, Lamb of Glory,
I set aside these moments to look up. I see You high and exalted, seated on the throne of my heart. I acknowledge Your authority and Your greatness. No one is greater than You are, and no one is higher than You are.
In the stillness, I can hear the chorus of angelic praise: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty.”
You are merciful. Yes, You are!
You are loving. Yes, You are!
You are gracious. Yes, You are!
You are kind. Yes, You are!
You are faithful. Yes, You are!
At the cross I see You, the holy Lamb of glory, giving Your life for little dust people, and I stand amazed in the presence of the crucified Savior. The Cross reveals not only the heinousness of my sin but also the beauty of Your infinite love as You stepped in and took Your own judgment in my place.
I confess that my focus in life and even my focus in prayer have not always been on You and You alone as the Solution to my problems and the Answer to my needs. I often have acted as though I am somebody and You are not.
I confess that often I have been so focused on “them” that I don’t see myself clearly. I turn to You now and ask that You shine the light of Your truth into my heart and what I feel, into my mind and what I think, so that I see myself as You see me and truly, deeply repent of my sin.
Strip me, most holy Lord, of any pride or self-righteousness or judgmentalism. Teach me to first take the plank out of my own eye before trying to remove the splinter in someone else’s eye. I long for You to send revival to the hearts of Your people. Let it begin right here. Right now. With me as I confess my sin and turn away from it. I want to truly experience holiness as I reflect You from the inside out.
Please cleanse me, wash me clean, for Jesus’s sake. I deeply desire to be holy as You are holy. For the glory of Your great name—Jesus,
Amen.

Many of us long to speak to God, but we struggle to establish a habit of daily prayer. Anne Graham Lotz has found that writing out her prayers helps her focus her heart and mind, drawing her to greater intimacy with God. The five prayers in this devotional are drawn from Anne’s own prayers of worship, confession, thanksgiving, and intercession.
