5 Prayers to Pray for Your Grandchildren Exemplo
God, Grant My Grandchild Faithful Friends
As humans, we’re created to be social creatures. Some people are most comfortable with a large group of friends, while others prefer to have a few close friends. Either way, friendship is an important element in our lives.
Good friends support each other through the good and difficult times. Through having friends, children learn how to be good friends and how to love others.
Friends of bad character can lead us into sin, pull us from the faith, entice us to make bad decisions and give bad advice. As Paul said, “Bad company corrupts good character”(1 Corinthians 15:33, NIV).
In our verse today, we learn an important aspect of healthy friends. It’s interesting that “friend” is singular— “a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” The significance of friends is found in their quality, in how they stand by you, not in their quantity.
Over and over in Proverbs, we’re called to pick out friends from among the wise. So we should pray for our grandchildren to find wise friends of good character and to ultimately find their deepest friend in Jesus.
Suggested Prayer:
“Lord God, I pray that you will stay close to my grandchildren. Please provide them with bonds of friendship with others who encourage and influence them to seek you and make good decisions. Let them be drawn to an uplifting community where they can flourish and contribute.
In the midst of hopelessness, a friend is needed the most. I pray for children around the world who are without hope. Provide them with good friends who love you. May they stand together for justice and receive hope from you. Amen.”
