Burn Your White Flags (Hebrews)Exemplo
Until quite recently in human history most jobs or careers required sustained physical exertion.
Many jobs in the Minority World today have moved into an office where the bulk of our work is done at our desks or in the conference room … sitting.
You see “back in the day” sitting signified more than a physical posture, especially in the world Jesus grew up in. Sitting is a statement about work: that it is finished.
In our text today we find these words: “But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God” (Hebrews 10:12).
This theme comes up over and over again throughout the New Testament but especially in the book of Hebrews: the reality of the finished work of Christ on our behalf.
This means that when it comes to our final standing with God—the reality of our 'belovedness'—we bring nothing but our sin to the table and in exchange He gifts us His right-ness.
Because of what God in Christ has done on the cross 2,000 years ago you can know that you are His.
So breathe, stop trying to prove yourself, and take a seat.
