" . . . 'Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's.'" Matthew 22:21
"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former." Matthew 23:23
Due diligence and generosity enlarge our capacity to receive all that God has for us, and it's better than what we could ever experience on our own!
Be warned: We cannot cheat the authority under which God has placed us (i.e. government, employers, parents), nor can we withhold from what God calls us to give His House through our tithe, and expect to receive a great measure of divine favor in our lives.
Similarly, we cannot gain favor with selective obedience.
Ask yourself:
- Have I ever benefited from dishonest gain?
There is no better time than now to repent and correct your missteps. Ask for forgiveness; pay back what is owed; construct boundaries to prevent a reoccurrence. - Am I giving my full tithe (10% of my income) to God's House?
If not, begin today!
See Malachi 3:8-10; Leviticus 27:30-33; Deuteronomy 14:23 for additional references. - In what situations do I need to adjust my attitude so that my gestures, words and actions reflect the heart and mind of Christ?
With God, nothing is impossible!
