When Trusting God Doesn’t Make Sense

For You

Noah was asked to place a lot of trust in God. Trusting God can be very difficult, especially when His plans don’t make any sense to us. Noah’s world was very different from our own. It was so bad that God decided to start over. God promised that not only would Noah survive, God would use him to save the animals. Imagine the kind of trust Noah had to have in God! God asks us to trust Him like that, too. His ways are better, and His plans always work out. Our role is to trust and obey, despite our fear or hesitation.

For Your Child

Ask this Question: Do you trust me?

Activity: Stand behind your child. Ask them to close their eyes and fall back into your arms. You will have to try this several times because it takes an effort of will to just fall backward. After you catch your child, say…

Was it hard to trust that I would catch you? I bet it was. It took you choosing to fall back, knowing I might miss, for you to truly trust me. Trusting God is a lot like this game we just played. It means believing that God has our best in mind even when we don’t know how things are going to work out. Just like you chose to fall back, even when you didn’t know I would catch you, you need to trust that God knows what is best for you even when you don’t know what will happen.
