Day 2: Mind Your Business
Imagine this scenario: You just overheard some “information” from a source about a situation that involves another individual. You either A: Tell someone else, who then tells someone else (you know where I’m going with this) or B: Keep quiet and mind your business.
Too many times we do not hold our tongue, like we are encouraged to do so in Proverbs. The result not only affects us, but can have a generational effect over our families and communities, while causing stress, anxiety, and offense for all parties involved.
I have seen first-hand what stress can do to a person’s mind and mental well-being, enough so that individuals cannot even leave their house. How can you live out God’s purpose for your life if you’re too stressed out?
To renew your mind in these situations - in order for you to walk in peace, it’s important to stay away from gossip and to hold your tongue. If you find yourself as the recipient of a situation like this: FORGIVE. I have found myself many times on this side of the equation. I could have lived offended and let it eat at me, but I renewed my mind and decided to forgive, and then walk in forgiveness. It’s definitely not easy, but it is worth every minute of peace.
Prayer for Day 2: Father in heaven, thank you that you are a God of peace. Help me to use self-control whenever there is a situation that may compromise me from walking in Your peace. I also ask that You show me anyone who I need to forgive, so I can walk in Your freedom today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
