Jesus Is LifeExemplo
The Harvest Is Ready
Today, let’s continue to reflect on what the woman at the well did after Jesus spoke with her.
As Jesus spoke with the Samaritan woman, it’s obvious something significant was happening in her. She was compelled to share her encounter with Jesus with anyone who would listen.
After these transforming moments of talking to the woman at the well, Jesus spoke to His disciples and used the analogy of harvest time. Jesus was reminding us all to look up and see that we don’t have to wait to do His work—the harvest is ready for us. Now is the right time to fulfill His work on this earth.
We live in a lost world—a world where people need to find the same hope that we have found in Christ. Our Savior wants us to know the joy of being a seed planter, field tender, and soul harvester for His kingdom! Just like the Samaritan woman, we all have a personal story to tell of how we met Jesus.
There are countless opportunities to share what Christ has done in us and for us through the salvation He brings. Sometimes we can get too distracted with our personal lives to notice the people around us. We often keep our heads down and focus on our own problems or tasks. We need to look up and look out. There is a massive, overflowing harvest field around us!
In Matthew 9:37, Jesus said the harvest is plenty, but the laborers are few. We are called to be one of those few laborers. He has given you your story, His love, His heart, His wisdom, and His power—every resource and gift you need—to accomplish His will of bringing the lost to Him!
The Samaritan woman is our inspiration! She’s a fantastic example of how to share with others what Christ has done in our lives. She didn’t need to be a church minister to share Christ, and her past no longer mattered. It was her story of meeting and believing in Jesus that qualified her to lead others to Him. And in John 4:39-42, we saw that many villagers put their faith in Jesus because the woman led them to see and hear for themselves.
Who in your life do you need to speak to about Jesus? You can invite or bring them to church with you. Share a cup of coffee with someone and share what Jesus did for you.
Have you tried doing something like this and failed? Keep asking and praying for them! Whatever you do, be sure always to slow down, look around, and see who may be thirsty. Joy awaits!
Consider:
What was Jesus referring to when He spoke about a ripe harvest field?
Why do you think Jesus uses a harvest as an example here?
Who in your life do you need to speak to about Jesus? What will you do about that?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I pray that You would give me the courage to share the good news with those around me. Please show me who You want me to tell my testimony to or invite to church. Thank You for the freedom of salvation You have given me. Help me do Your work and look for those in need of hearing about You.
*Keep finishing strong with your Jesus Is … list!
