What If You Were The Plan?Exemplo

What If You Were The Plan?

Dia 4 de 21

Have you ever needed to apply for a government-issued document in person? We recently had the privilege of making multiple visits to obtain necessary documents. The environment was somewhat volatile. There were only two rules posted: “no food or drink allowed” and “please silence your cell phones.” The grandma sitting behind us was not so clear on the rules and mistakenly answered her phone AND tried to take a sip from her tiny water bottle. I wasn’t sure if they were going to charge her for disorderly conduct or just throw her out! These people were serious about rules!

By our third visit, we knew the drill. At least we thought we did. After moving me around the room into three different sections, the officer called out my oldest daughter (a minor), ushered us to the front, and demanded that I leave my other minor child unattended in a room of strangers. When I refused and explained how previously this was not required, I was informed I had no choice because,

Today, the rules had changed.”

Shocked as well as furious, I thought to myself, "You can’t change the rules! This is America!"

I wonder how many Christians can empathize with me in my outrage on a civil level, but might halfway expect God to change up the rules a bit, too. I mean, how can you be sure He loves you? What if He really hasn’t forgiven you for that unsightly part of your life? If you were really honest and open, you might question His commitment.

The Bible assures us—Christianity is not a man-made institution. In Jesus Christ the rules never change. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. We can rely on His promises, His character, and His faithfulness in all things.

Because we have such an immutable God, He calls us to trust Him. Your sacrifices are not required. Your good works are not scaled against the bad. His Word never changes. The language is clear and uncompromising.

Without faith it is impossible to please God.”

You can trust your God to be committed to you. Thank Him for his unfading character and faithfulness. Ask Him to give you a deeper, broader, richer faith that will please the Father and enable you to believe Him in all things.
