Space for Grace

Guilt weighs us down when we don’t forgive ourselves for things we’ve done—or haven’t done. There are times when this “tape” plays over and over, and the process of forgiving (and forgetting!) seems out of reach.

A friend recently described a place of prayer as a “space for grace.” She spoke of this concept as opening a safe encounter with a merciful God. We can expand the “space for grace” to include times when we gather with others in prayer, listen to a friend, or give ourselves a break. By keeping company with Christ, we learn the unforced rhythms of grace, allowing us to live freely and lightly.

Where can you give yourself space for grace today? Wherever it is, begin the journey of releasing your guilt and keeping company with Christ.
