Jesus's message to the disciples seems a bit cryptic. How can someone satisfy our hunger and our thirst? Jesus is to the soul as bread is to the body. Just as the body can’t live without food, so the soul cannot live without the life giving power of Christ. If we neglect the word of God, we will spiritually become weak and sick. Temptations will be much harder to fight against and our growth will be stunted.
