What If?

DAY 2 OF 6

What if this is real?

Have you ever had a friend who was into something that you just couldn’t get into? Maybe he/she liked a certain sport or a certain type of music, but you couldn’t understand why. But after some time listening to your friend talk about it, or maybe you even decided to try it because they were so into it, you finally start to get it; you finally see what is so great about this thing you, at one time, didn’t understand.

Many people have that same thought with believing in Jesus. They are asking if God exists, if He’s real. For those who don’t yet have a relationship with Jesus, they haven’t experienced a real encounter with Him. Maybe they have been rejected by people who misrepresented Him, maybe they have been misinformed about who He is, or maybe they just haven’t been invited to meet Him? If God is not real, then the unifying principle of the universe is randomness - things happened by accident.

But for those of us who have a relationship with Jesus, we know that everything that exists is intentional and has meaning. We know that He is real. Through an encounter with Jesus, something about Him became real in us and our lives have meaning. As followers of Jesus, we don’t have to defend why we read the scriptures or if we believe everything in it is a fact or not. We read the scriptures because we believe it’s God breathed and it teaches us a new and better way to be human. If this relationship with Jesus has become real in our lives, it should change how we look, see, and feel about everything.

Action Step: Think back to when knowing Jesus became real for you. How was your life different after that? What makes it hard for you to believe that He is real? Write a prayer asking God to become real in your life.

About this Plan

What If?

This plan will challenge students to seize opportunities to share about Jesus with their friends and family. The plan asks and answers questions that can be potential roadblocks to sharing the Gospel.
