Love God Greatly - AdventSample

I LOVE decorating for Christmas! The glow of the lights on Christmas trees and on the exterior of homes brighten up the colder winter months here in the Midwest town where I live. The lights outshine what was once marked by darkness and doldrums, and fill the atmosphere instead with celebration and wonder! The biggest bummer of the season for me is always when Christmas is over, the lights come down, and darkness returns. No matter how much we get used to the lights and long for them to stick around, Christmas is only for a season. In today’s verses, Jesus speaks with urgency and explains that His light is available only for a time – merely a season. His death is near, and He’s about to take the lead role in the greatest love story every known! And in beautiful love story fashion, Jesus is persistent in his love for his people, and gives them one last invitation to believe in Him. Have you been holding back, not fully believing and surrendering your life to Jesus? Are you trying to walk through life without Him, but keep stumbling in the darkness? Oh friend, take advantage of Jesus’ invitation while there is still time. Put your trust in Him today, and walk in His love, light and peace all year through!
