Heroes: Devotions From Time Of Grace MinistrySample
COURAGE: MOSES
It's not so very hard to be brave when you have weapons and superior field position. It is another thing entirely to be brave when you are essentially unarmed, trying to take care of a massive civilian population, have your back to water, and are facing massed Egyptian infantry with six hundred chariots.
Here is one reason why Moses is such a hero. At age 80 he encouraged the terrified Israelites not to believe their eyes but to believe the words of God. "Moses answered the people, ‘Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still." (Exodus 14:13-14).
He was right. God simply arranged for the drowning of their foes as they watched.
Any fool can be confident after a victory. God does His best work in building our faith during our times of waiting, testing, and suffering. When God calls us to action, we need to move. But sometimes, when faced by huge obstacles, we need only to listen to God's words and be still.

About this Plan
In this 31 day reading plan, enjoy Pastor Jeske's personal collection of biblical heroes. One of the many things the Bible does for us is to let us hear the stories of some rough and broken people who God found useful to Him. Learning by the example of others is a great way to learn.
