Day 29: Prayer
Read
Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. –Romans 12:12
Connect
When Hannah couldn’t conceive a child, she prayed.
“O LORD of Heaven’s Armies, if you will look upon my sorrow and answer my prayer and give me a son, then I will give him back to you. He will be yours for his entire lifetime, and as a sign that he has been dedicated to the LORD, his hair will never be cut.” –1 Samuel 1:11
When King Hezekiah was sick, he cried out to God.
“Remember, O LORD, how I have always been faithful to you and have served you single-mindedly, always doing what pleases you.” –2 Kings 20:3
Even Jesus, who was man and God, spent time with his Father—including the night before His crucifixion.
“Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.” –Luke 22:42
In one way or another, all these prayers were answered.
But praying did something else for the people who prayed these prayers: it connected them more deeply to God.
It is good to ask God for what you desire. It is important to intercede in prayer for people in need. But the most powerful part of prayer isn’t the answer you receive.
The most powerful part of prayer is what you experience every time you pray: intimacy with God.
"Come close to God, and God will come close to you." –James 4:8
Time with the Lord will fuel you for whatever you face each day—for whatever you face in your season of singleness and in all future relationships.
It’s in intimacy with God that you will find peace, grace, and hope.
Spend time with Him today.
Prayer
Your presence, Lord, is the best part of life. Thank You for showing up, without fail, every time I approach You. I’m excited to approach You more and more.
