THE UNBREAKABLE BOY Bible Reading Plan

DAY 4 OF 5

"Sometimes it’s bad when things break. Sometimes it’s good. You don’t always know which it’s going to be." – Austin

We all experience brokenness. Whether it's by mistakes we make or circumstances beyond our control, there are moments where things fall apart. Scott knows this well. His addiction had a grip on him, and his bad decisions seemed to shatter everything in his life. But God, in His infinite mercy, does not leave us in our brokenness. He offers us the chance to experience redemption—a process of being healed and made whole again.

Scott’s mother paints a picture for him of this. She hands him a fragile teacup and asks him to break it. Scott hesitantly obeys. She then gathers the pieces, placing them in front of him and gently says, “Is that you right now? It’s me too. It’s all of us. But honey, your mistakes don’t define you. How you heal does, okay? So get to work.”

God is in the business of redeeming what is lost and broken. Scott begins faithfully and consistently pursuing change and healing. We see him repair the broken teacup and fill its cracks with gold.

Jesus came to the world to heal the broken. His sacrifice on the cross was the ultimate act of redemption, bringing forgiveness to sinners and offering healing to every soul who is willing to accept it. Through Jesus, our sins, no matter how destructive, are washed away, and we are given a fresh start.

When we surrender our brokenness to God, He does more than fix us—He transforms us. He fills our cracks with His love and His grace, making us whole again. And through this process, we become a living testimony of God’s amazing ability to bring redemption to anyone, no matter how far we’ve fallen or how broken we feel.

  • What broken parts of your life are you trying to fix on your own instead of trusting God with them?
  • How have you experienced God’s transformative grace in your own brokenness?
  • How can you allow God’s grace to work through your brokenness to help others who may be struggling?
