The Take Off: Launching Into God’s Purposeਨਮੂਨਾ

One Step at a Time
Faith isn’t about jumping into the unknown and hoping something will catch you. It’s about taking a step forward, knowing you’ll be caught. It’s about trusting God completely, just like you trust a chair to hold you when you sit or the ground to stay firm when you stand. You don’t second-guess those things; you simply know they’ll work. That’s the kind of confidence God wants us to have in Him.
The truth is, God’s track record shows He’s more reliable than a chair or the ground—He created them, after all! So, why would we doubt that He’ll catch us when we step out in faith?
One of the best examples of stepping out in faith is Peter walking on water. The disciples were in a boat during a storm when they saw Jesus walking on the water. At first, they were terrified, thinking He was a ghost. But when Jesus called out to them, Peter said, “Lord, if it’s You, tell me to come to You on the water.” Jesus responded, “Come.”
Peter stepped out of the boat and did something humanly impossible—he walked on water toward Jesus. Imagine how crazy that must have felt! But Peter didn’t let fear stop him. He stepped out in faith, trusting that Jesus would keep him afloat (Matthew 14:22-33).
Yes, Peter began to sink when he became distracted by the wind and waves, but even in that moment, Jesus reached out and caught him. Stepping out in faith doesn’t mean you’ll never feel unsure. It means trusting that even when you stumble, God will always be there to catch you.
So, what does this mean for you? Maybe God is asking you to take a step of faith right now—whether it’s starting a new friendship, speaking up about your beliefs, or pursuing a dream that feels impossible. Whatever it is, know this: God won’t let you fall. His faithfulness is greater than any fear you feel.
Reflection Question:
What’s one step of faith you can take today, trusting that God will hold you up?
Prayer:
Dear God, thank You for being more reliable than anything else in my life. Help me to step out in faith, knowing You’ll always catch me. Teach me to trust You more and more each day. Amen.
