Heart Detox: The War for Your Soul by Vance K. Jackson

DAY 3 OF 3

Yokes In The Garden

“And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.” Genesis 3:17–19 KJV

Let’s go back to the beginning where it all started—the Garden of Eden. In fact, the law of sin and the introduction of “wilderness cycles and generational curses” were all introduced in the Garden. When Adam disobeyed God, the infrastructure of sin became the ruling authority in the Earth.

As a result of Adam’s sin, all of mankind became “yoked” to the bondage of sin. As a result, of Adam’s disobedience, he and every generation after him suffered the consequence of sin. Because of one man’s disobedience, all of mankind was “yoked” to the ruling authority of sin and sentenced to serve under its rule.

Disobedience enslaves the hearts of generations and perpetuates the cycle of “Heart Slavery” across generational Bloodlines. Satan wants to enslave your heart. Not only does Satan want to enslave your heart to sin—he also wants to enslave everything and everyone assigned to you. Satan did not only want to enslave Adam and Eve to the law of sin and death—he also wanted to enslave their seed as well.

Satan wants your seed. Remember this, Satan does not produce—he perverts. Satan cannot create so he wants to pervert what’s coming out of you. Your disobedience has generational consequence. Your disobedience does not only impact you, but it also impacts what’s coming out of you. Sin impacts who’s coming behind you. Sin impacts your legacy. Satan wants what’s in your loins. Don’t let Satan rob you of your destiny. Satan desires to “yoke” you and everything that’s coming out of you to sin.

Let’s examine a few yokes that were “birthed” in the Garden as a result of Adam’s Disobedience. Your disobedience can enslave the hearts of generations that come out of you. Let’s examine the following scriptures closely in order to study the “Genesis” of sin. Let’s see where sin entered into the Garden.

Genesis 3:17–19 KJV declares, ”And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.” Because of Adam’s disobedience, notice what God had declared over Adam in Genesis 3:17 KJV, “Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife.”

Adam chose to disobey God and follow the voice of sin. Your obedience matters to God. Generations are depending upon your obedience. Honor is tied to your obedience. Legacy is tied to your obedience. Wealth is tied to your obedience. Health is tied to your obedience. Because of Adam’s disobedience, every generation that flowed out of Adam was chained to the process of sin and the law of death.

Adam’s heart withered long before he physically died in the wilderness. Withering is a process and disobedience introduces the process of death. Because of Adam’s sin, the law of sin became the ruling authority in the Earth. Due to Adam’s disobedience, Cain, Abel, and every generation thereafter was born into sin—until Jesus Christ broke the cycle, yoke, and bondage of sin. Your generational dominion and authority is tied to your obedience today. Obey God in the Garden.

Adam chose to bow to the voice of sin rather than heeding to the Instruction of God. Adam made the mistake of bowing to the opinion of others instead of heeding to the Voice of God. Choose to yoke your heart to God’s Word. What is your heart yoked to? Whom is your heart yoked to? When your heart becomes entangled with bowing to the opinion of man instead of surrendering to the Counsel and the Voice of God, your heart heeds to the idols of this world instead of bowing to the True and Living God.

There are good Godly yokes that are beneficial for your spiritual growth and development, and there are also ungodly yokes that are detrimental to your spiritual health. Choose to heed to the Voice of God. Don’t allow the voice of man to amplify itself over the Voice of God. Choose to submit to the Counsel of God. Christ came to set you free from the bondage and stronghold of sin. Christ came to break the generational cycle of sin.

John 10:10 KJV declares, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” Jesus Christ came to set you free from sin’s tyranny. When you surrender to Christ, the law of sin no longer has rule over you. When you surrender to Christ, the lord of sin no longer has authority over your heart.

In Christ, you are made new. In Christ, you are complete. In Christ, you are set free. In Christ, you are made whole. Because of the obedience of Jesus Christ, you are set free from the yoke of sin. When you choose to surrender to Jesus Christ, your heart no longer bows to the law and dictates of sin.

When you choose to obey Christ, generational cycles are broken and yokes are destroyed. When you are in Christ, your heart has a new Lord and the tyranny of sin no longer reigns over the ground of your heart. Choose to surrender to Christ and let Him break every cycle. Choose to obey His Word and let Him break every yoke of bondage.

Prayer

Father God, in the Name of Jesus Christ, thank You for sending Your Son to die for my sins. Father, I believe that Your Son, Jesus Christ, died and rose again just for me. Father, I receive Your Son, Jesus Christ, as my Lord and Savior. Father, I surrender to You. Father, I thank You that the Blood of Jesus Christ washes me, cleanses me, and makes me new.

Father, I am whole in You. Father, I am restored in You. Father, I am complete in You. Lord, remove anything in my heart that’s not like You. Father, reveal anything buried deep within the soil of my heart that’s not like You.

Father, expose anything buried deep within the foundation and framework of my character that’s not like You. Father, purge me and cultivate the ground of my heart. Father, make me more like You. Lord, remove any “Heart Stain” that has contaminated my heart from emotional pains, stains, and disappointments of the past. Lord, heal me and make me more like You.

Father God, in the Name of Jesus, destroy every yoke. Lord, remove anything that has my heart entangled. Plow my heart with Your Word. Lord, remove every bondage. Father, remove every chain. Father, I choose to be complete in You. Lord, restore me and make me whole.

In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
