SERVE FRIENDS
Good friends build us up. Think about your closest friends—the ones you trust, who celebrate with you when things are good and stick by you when life gets tough. These are your people, your “tribe.” The Voice translation of Proverbs 17:17 says that a true friend loves regardless of the situation, and a real brother exists to share the tough times. A loyal friend loves no matter what, showing up when things are messy, not just when it’s easy.
Serving your friends means being that kind of person—someone who lifts others up with kindness, encouragement, and love. It doesn’t mean you have to be best friends with everyone, but it does mean choosing to love, even when it’s inconvenient. God designed us for community, where we can share His goodness and reflect His love. Friendship is a gift, but it’s also a responsibility. We’re called to look after one another, to serve the people around us with the same selfless love Jesus shows us.
The Lord, through Scripture, never leaves anything out. God intentionally placed this line of wisdom into the Bible so that we might know the value of friendship and the lasting impact it makes on our quality of life as children of God. We are brothers and sisters in Christ who look after one another and love each other just as Jesus loved us. God blessed us with community so that we can gather to soak in His Goodness and live in the Love that he freely gives to us all. Today, thank God for placing in your life those Friends who feel like Family.
Some things to consider today: Who is in my Tribe? Let me pray for them and Thank God for them. What friendship in my life do I need to invest into more? How can I encourage that friend this week?
