Acts 10:9-33 | When God Has a New Wayਨਮੂਨਾ

Here’s where we’re at. Peter is in the city of Joppa staying with a tanner named Simon. About 30 miles up the road, a Roman centurion named Cornelius receives a vision from God that he has found favor with God and that he should send for Peter. Cornelius, of course, is a Gentile. Peter is a Jew. And just like the clean/unclean distinctions were meant to show Israel, Jew and Gentile don’t mix.

But God doubles down. Knowing Peter’s hesitancy and aversion to the people Cornelius sent, Peter gets a vision from God, too.

This sets up a larger story in Acts 10 that we’re dividing into three parts over three plans. This is the second part. Together, they form a story that guides the rest of the book of Acts – Christ’s kingdom is coming to the Gentiles, and this will radically refine what it means to be the people of God.
