Politics for People Who Hate Politicsਨਮੂਨਾ

The identity crises we often face in politics represent two sides of the same coin: identity politics and tribalism. While tribalism and identity politics are understandable sociological impulses, they are also factors that contribute to our political division. Healthy societies require independence, compromise, and logic, which minimize knee-jerk reactions to different points of view. Tribalism and identity politics, however, nudge us in the opposite direction and often manifest in prejudice, violence, and an overt hatred of the “other.”

In a world where politics often defines who we are, it's crucial to remember that our true identity is found in Christ. Brennan Manning once said, "Define yourself radically as one beloved by God. This is the true self. Every other identity is an illusion." Given how easy it is to lose sight of God’s truth, it’s critical that we remind ourselves of who God made us to be.

When we root our identity in anything other than Christ, we risk losing sight of who we are meant to be. Our political affiliations, career achievements, and social status can easily become false identities that lead us away from God's purpose for our lives.
