Being the Church Beyond SundaySample
Be Men, Bold and Courageous
One of the best Christian movies I've seen is Courageous. It tells the story of four police officers grappling with their faith and roles as husbands and fathers when a tragedy strikes close to home. Together, they make a faith declaration that changes their lives. You can find this declaration online and make it yourself.
Amongst other things, God expects us, as men of faith, to be courageous and share our beliefs with the world.
Sharing our faith beyond Sunday begins with being true to ourselves. Christian men should be bold and confident in their identity as sons of the living God. It can start with small actions. Be open with others about attending church and believing in Jesus Christ as your Savior. Being a Christian is not a private identity. Jesus said, "If you stand before others and are willing to say you believe in me, then I will tell my Father in heaven that you belong to me" (Matthew 10:32).
We also need to defend the Church. I believe it is under attack, and we must speak out to dispel the misconceptions surrounding it. Standing up for the Church includes correcting misinformation and defending others against the lies of evil. This also means holding our churches to account and calling them to holiness. We cannot be effective if we do not extend our faith beyond Sunday.
We are privileged to share good news with a dark and tired world. Isaiah 52:7 states, "How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, 'Your God reigns!'" As followers of God, how can we be bearers of His light if we don't live out our faith beyond Sunday mornings?
The world desperately needs hope and longs for good news. It is our responsibility to share it.
Prayer: Father, grant us the courage to boldly share Your Gospel with the world. Please pour Your Spirit out upon us. Amen.
Reflection: What holds you back from boldly living out your faith beyond Sunday?

About this Plan
This week, we are exploring the importance of the Church and our commitment beyond just Sunday morning. God loves us every day, not just on Sundays. In reciprocation, men need to reflect His light seven days a week. Let's encourage each other in this mission! Written by Jacques Van Dyk.
