Loved Beyond Words: The Ultimate ValentineSample
Day 4: Love That Sacrifices
Scripture:
"Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends." – John 15:13 (NIV)
Jesus’ love is the ultimate expression of sacrifice. In John 15:13, He gives us the ultimate definition of love—not just through words, but through actions. True love is willing to give of itself, even to the point of laying down one’s life. Jesus demonstrated this love on the cross, where He laid down His life for us so that we could have life eternal.
This kind of love is not always easy. It calls us to sacrifice our time, energy, resources, and even our comfort for the good of others. Jesus’ love challenges us to think beyond ourselves, to love selflessly, and to serve those around us. It’s a love that doesn’t count the cost but gives freely, just as Christ gave His life for us.
As we reflect on this truth, we should ask ourselves: How can we love sacrificially? Who in our life needs our love in a way that requires a sacrifice? Let’s ask God to show us the areas where we can imitate His sacrificial love in our own lives.
Prayer:
Jesus,
Thank You for laying down Your life for me. Your love challenges me to love others sacrificially, and I pray that You will give me the strength and courage to do so. Help me to put others’ needs above my own and to love with a heart of selflessness. Show me where I can sacrifice for the good of those around me, and may my actions reflect the same love that You have shown me. In Your name, Amen.
