Multiplying the Gospel // Gospel X - Multiplying the Message

DAY 5 OF 7

This passage of Ecclesiastes does not speak about the gospel specifically, but it speaks about the principle of generosity and abundancy. If we want our projects, actions etc. to yield any results, we will also need to put in some generous “sowing”.

Imagine a sales office: not every conversation with a potential customer will result in a sale. A sales person will need to talk to several potential customers to sell something. The same is true for a farmer: when the farmer drives onto the fields to sow, he or she will sow many seeds. Not every seed will sprout, but the idea is to sow enough seeds, so the harvest will be large. The same principle applies to the gospel: not every time the gospel is shared, a new believer will be the result. “You do not know which will succeed” (Ecc 11.6).

The gospel is like a seed. It is available in abundance and it will never run out. So, there is no need to sow it sparsely. What is running out, is time. People have just one lifetime. There is a need for the seed, i.e. the gospel, and every single person to be connected before the end of everyone’s lifetime. In other words, since the gospel is always available and time is not, it is important to use the time there is to share the gospel wherever and whenever possible.

Do you sow the gospel generously? What helps you to do this? What hinders you?

There is a danger to keep “watching the wind” and “looking at the clouds”. There is always a reason why the time is not right yet, why it seems better to wait. But who knows if the time gets better?
Only God. Therefore, the right time is now. It is now time to sow the seed, to share the gospel.
Then, it is up to God what results will come out of it.

About this Plan

Multiplying the Gospel // Gospel X - Multiplying the Message

Jesus left the church the vision of a movement when he challenged us to reproduce from our own Jerusalem into “Judea, Samaria and the end of the earth.” (Acts 1:8). For us to see a movement, we need every Christ follower to adopt Jesus' personal mission to “seek and save the lost.” (Luke 19:10). Evangelism is core to the mission of Jesus and essential to accomplishing his vision. This plan is part of a 5 week journey around the topic of Gospel X - Multiplying the Gospel
