What is your greatest fear in life? Maybe it’s something common or even seemingly silly, like spiders, the dark, clowns, or heights. Maybe it’s something rooted in experience, like the fear of getting into an accident, or the fear of a diagnosis, or the fear of loss. Or maybe it’s something about the unknown, like a fear of the future, or a fear of uncertainty, or a fear of death. Whatever it is, those fears are very real to you. When we think about or even face our fears in life, the good news is we aren’t doing it alone. The prophet Isaiah speaks God’s words directly to our fears and uncertainties here.

We don’t have to fear. Why? Because God is with us! We don’t have to be dismayed or afraid. Why? Because God is our God. We don’t have to deal with uncertainty on our own. Why? Because God promises to strengthen, help, and uphold us every step of the way. This week, work on memorizing this verse. Get the truth of it in your heart. Use it to remind yourself of what’s true in the face of your fears. You can even say it as a prayer, asking God to do all He promised when you face uncertainty.
