Exercise in Honesty: Write down your top three fears.

Fear is defined as “timidity, fearfulness, or cowardice. The Holman Bible Dictionary has a summary of the word, “fear.” The English word “fear” is used to translate several Hebrew and Greek words. In the O.T., the most common word used to express fear is yir’ ah, which means “fear, “terror” (Isa. 7:25; Jonah1:10,16). In the N.T., the word used most often to express fear is phobos which means “fear,” “dread,” and “terror” (Matt. 28:4; Luke 21:26). We get our English word, “Phobia.”

When we feed our fears, they can grow into phobias or influence our health, mental state of mind, or spiritual stability. In 2 Timothy 1:7, Paul was writing to Timothy to remind him not to fear his youthfulness considering his call and ordination to ministry. God has a great capacity to overcome his fear with love, power, and sound-mindedness. In simple terms, turn your fears over to the Lord and He will diminish their control over you.

Instead, FEED YOUR FAITH. Faith turns your attention to the Lord as our overcoming Agent to diminish our fears. When we feed our faith, then love has a soil to grow in and overtake the fear that holds us back. By feeding your faith, God’s Word brings you the power or spiritual dynamite to take back the ground that fear stole. When you increase your faith, you gain sound-mindedness or self-discipline and confidence to push past the fear.

Our prayer and efforts in these 21 days were to give you the opportunity to be convinced, FEAR IS NOT MY FUTURE. Your future is in the hands of God and He holds it all together.
