Remembering the Lord's love for you
“When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears and delivers…” (Psalms 34:17)
Fasting causes the crooked ways within you to be exposed. The more you deny your flesh, the louder it gets. The louder it gets, the more exposed it becomes! This is where you choose to decrease, yielding to His spirit as it increases within you.
Fasting is sacrificial, not a formula. Fasting is not a formula to get God’s attention. It is only a formula for those who are religious! Remember that God hears your voice and your cries when you are fasting and when you are not (Psalm 34:17). The heart of your fast should be to keep God at the center of it because He simply wants you to turn your face to Him and encounter Him! Remember His love for you as you fast, as it is an opportunity to exalt Him far above what is pleasing to us.
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for saving me. Reveal your love to me. I long to be close to you. Help me hear you more clearly than ever. Amen.
APPLICATION
- Take time today to express your love to God (conversation, dance, paint, etc.).
- Ask God to search your heart for any areas that He is not Lord over.
About this Plan
There is only one way to God and it's through Jesus, but in Jesus, there are many ways to connect with God. One way you can connect with God is through fasting. Fasting is a spiritual discipline that calls us to deny the desires of our flesh and fill ourselves up with God, His Word, and His presence. Through this 7-Day devotional, our goal is that you would walk away understanding the importance of fasting and be equipped with the tools to connect with God through fasting.
