DAY 17 OF 21

Day 17: Jesus Prayed for You

Read John 17

In John 17, we witness an incredible moment: Jesus praying not only for His disciples but also for all believers—including you and me. This Prayer, often called Jesus’ High Priestly Prayer, reveals His Deep Love and Concern for His followers as He prepares for His departure.

Jesus prays for our Protection, asking the Father to guard us from the evil one. He knows we live in a world filled with trials and temptations, yet He doesn’t pray for our removal from it. Instead, He prays for us to be Protected, reminding us that even in hardship, we are never alone.

He also prays for our Unity. Jesus desires that we, as believers, would be united just as He and the Father are One. This Unity is crucial for our witness to the world—when we live in Harmony and Love, we reflect the very Nature of God and draw others to Christ.

Lastly, Jesus prays for our Sanctification, asking the Father to make us Holy through His Word. As we grow in our relationship with God, we are continually transformed to become more like Jesus, set apart for His Purposes.

Perhaps the most comforting aspect of this Prayer is knowing that Jesus is still interceding for us today. He knows our struggles and needs, and He is actively praying for us, strengthening us to live out our faith.

Reflection Questions:

  1. How does knowing that Jesus prays for your Protection and Unity encourage you in your daily life?
  2. In what ways can you pursue Unity with other believers this week, reflecting the Love and Character of God?
