Living in Increase (Part 6) - Increase in LeadershipSample
Our Authority through Jesus
This week, we have discussed the importance of remaining obedient to powers of authority: Jesus, earthly rulers, and our Church leadership. We also examined what authority should look like. Jesus modeled and taught that if we gain authority over others, we are to become servants. Truthfully, when you gain authority, you do not stop serving. If anything, you begin to serve even more. You are now serving both those above you and those below you.
Jesus has given you your authority. There will be times when you may feel uncomfortable making difficult decisions. Sometimes, it is challenging to have hard conversations, but you have the power (and responsibility) to say something.
The last and possibly most important piece of authority we will discuss is our authority through Jesus Christ over the enemy. If you are to walk effectively in leadership and authority, then you must understand your full power. We are soldiers in the Lord’s army. For the sake of this analogy, let’s say God is the general, and we are the officers. Satan is lower than God on the command chain. While he may not listen to us, he has to listen to God. As officers, we don’t have to have authority over the enemy because we’re in relationship with the One who does! We are under God’s governance and rule. When we work through Him, we have His authority through the Name of Jesus. James 4:7 says to resist the devil, and he will flee from us. We have the authority to tell the devil to flee! Never underestimate or forsake that gift. Remember who you are because of Jesus. Speak in authority and be strong in the Lord!
