A Future Full of Hope

Who is your future found in? It can be so overwhelming to think about our futures. What sport will I do this season? What colleges or jobs will I apply to? Who will I sit next to at lunch? Will I pass that test or finish that project? These questions can be distractions when we’re making a plan, but what do we do when things don’t go as planned? What if the race you’re running is taking longer than your peers? It can be easy to give in to impatience and take shortcuts because you don’t see the complete picture. God isn’t looking for you to have it all figured out. Your life wasn’t meant to look like everyone else’s, and there is a time for everything. Don’t rush the process.
When driving, I want to be in the fast lane. Sometimes, when I switch lanes in traffic, my new lane becomes the slowest lane while the lane I was in picks up again, becoming the fastest. Every time this happens, I wish I had stayed patient. These moments teach me that taking these “shortcuts” delays my arrival time. We will get where we need to be, but our decisions determine how fast we arrive.
Are you following God's plan and path for your life? If so, don’t worry if your process takes longer than others. God has you in the right lane and you will arrive precisely in His timing. Don’t rush the process.
This year, when moments of uncertainty come, remember that God has a plan for your life even when you can’t see it. His plans for your life are good. Romans 8:28 reminds us, “In all things, God works for the good of those who love Him.” The call on your life is a good one. God gives us a hopeful future, not fleeting or wishful thinking from Him. God always keeps His promises, so trust in His timing and purpose. We can take comfort in knowing God sees the whole picture and let Him guide us toward our future.
God promises a future filled with hope and prosperity, even when we can’t see the path ahead. Reflecting on this, what are some areas in your life where you are struggling to trust God’s plan?
