Abide, Adore, Ask and Agree: 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting With Rock City ChurchSample
DAY 14
Jehovah-Rapha, "The Lord who Heals." Healing can be a difficult subject to understand in the Christian faith. It was a huge part of Jesus' ministry and is meant to be part of the church's ongoing ministry. The New Testament includes several testimonies of the miracle of healing, and this miracle continues in the modern day. God is clearly greater than any physical ailment or condition. And yet, not everyone who seeks physical healing from God receives it this side of heaven.
The kingdom of God here on the earth is often described as "now and not yet." While physical healings happen now, the absence of sickness and disease altogether has not yet been realized. A day is coming on which we will receive resurrected bodies, and everything from the common cold to cancer will no longer exist.
In the meantime, what are we to do? Seek God's kingdom and His will. To seek the Lord's kingdom means we are agreeing with the reality of heaven. That reality is healing! We are also to seek the Lord's will, which sometimes takes us places we don't want to go. In Matthew 26, we see that Jesus prayed not to endure the cross and drink the cup, yet He still chose to do the Father's will.
During this final week of our fast, we will consider several more realities in the kingdom of heaven, ask God to bring His kingdom to the earth and agree with His will.
REFLECTION
1. What healing have you been asking the Lord for in your life or in the life of a loved one?
