For Even Jesus- Day Three

Reflecting on the intricate details the Lord invested in His church, gratitude should rise up within us. Jesus, with all His divine glory, could have entered the world in grandeur, born in lavishness, living a life of luxury, and demanding worship in the most prestigious temples. Yet, that wasn't the path He chose. Instead, He entered not to be served but to serve us! Contemplating this verse, it's bewildering why Jesus, the one deserving of service, took on the role of a servant. The Son of Man came to demonstrate service, embodying the Greek word "diakoneo," from which we derive "deacon." Essentially, Jesus came to attend to, wait upon, and render service to us. His profound love for His creation went beyond conventional service, extending to the ultimate act of giving His life as a ransom on the cross—a kingly sacrifice from a servant's heart.

Jesus, in his service, provides a blueprint for us to follow. Firstly, He prioritized the needs of others above His own. Secondly, He exceeded the call of duty in His service. Thirdly, He did so without a hint of complaint. May we emulate Jesus by learning to serve with a heart that places others before ourselves, going above and beyond in our service to the body of Christ, and doing so without complaint. Following Jesus' example, we can embody the truth of His words: "Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends." Let us, too, be friends who serve as Jesus did.

PRAYER

“Lord, guide me in learning to serve like You—placing others before myself, going beyond the call of duty, and embracing service without complaint. Instill in me a genuine desire to serve, a love for doing so, and a character that reflects You as my Savior. In Jesus' name, amen.”
