Faith at Work: A Plan for Business LeadersSample
Have you ever met someone who seems to be good at everything? Those people who, in every situation, appear to succeed with very little effort.
We all want to be successful in whatever we do. Naturally, no one sets out to lose—we all want to win. But for some, winning seems to come easily, while others work themselves to the point of exhaustion just to keep up.
We know that achieving our goals requires effort and hard work. In Colossians 3, we are encouraged to give our best:
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters" (Colossians 3:23, NIV).
At the same time, the Bible teaches us that God wants to be our Provider, Strength, and Shield. He calls us to trust Him with the outcome:
“Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth” (Psalm 121:1-2, NIV).
When striving for success in our work and endeavors, we often face a dilemma: How do we know when to push ourselves harder and when to step back in faith, trusting God to come through for us?
Jesus gives us this invitation in Matthew 11:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30, NIV).
The key here is the concept of a "yoke" or "burden." The burden God wants us to carry is light and easy. When we take on the responsibility for outcomes that belong to God, we create a heavy burden for ourselves—one that drains our energy, joy, and peace.
Instead, hand over your burdens to God and let Him carry them. You can continue to work diligently and do your best, but remember, the outcome belongs to the Lord.
