1 Peter: Exiled, but Not Alone | Video DevotionalSample
Prepare Your Heart
Welcome to 1 Peter: Exiled, but Not Alone. Before you journey through the book of 1 Peter, watch the short overview video below. Peter tells a group of churches that being chosen by Jesus means they have been chosen for exile. While it's true that they will suffer, they are not alone. The good news of 1 Peter is that even though we are exiles in a foreign land, we have joined a new eternal family through Jesus.
Reflect
Next, we invite you to read a central part of the book of 1 Peter. 1 Peter 4:12-19 shows us that suffering for Jesus is not unexpected but is a core part of our identity as his followers. Peter says that sharing Jesus' sufferings means we will share in his resurrection power as well. We can be comforted because we know that even in trials, God is preparing us for eternal life with Him.
What's Next?
Each day of this reading plan, you will watch a short video that walks you through the book of 1 Peter and shows how our identity as "exiles" in this world connects us to God's promises and gives hope in suffering.
Each day, you will see the same three things:
1. What’s Happening?
This section explains what is going on in the text.
2. Where is the Gospel?
This section shows how this story ultimately points to Jesus and his Gospel.
3. A Time of Prayer
This is a short prayer meant to propel you into Scripture to see the good news of Jesus for yourself.
We hope this journey transforms you. Our prayer is that the Holy Spirit would open your eyes to see the beauty of Jesus in all of Scripture.

Each day is accompanied by a short video that explains what you're reading and how it's all about Jesus. In this plan, you'll learn how being an "exile" does not mean we are alone.
