God’s Will Is Above All

DAY 4 OF 5

God’s Will Is Above All

WORSHIP COMES BEFORE EVERYTHING

MAIN IDEAS:

• Jesus’ entrance into Jerusalem is associated with an atmosphere of praise and worship coming from the crowds.

• Not all worshiped Him; unbelief, envy, and hypocrisy gave way to hate, not worship.

• Jesus restored worshiping in the Temple, which had become a place for earthly business-making and religious arrangements. The sick are healed.

The right way people can relate to GOD is through worship. Worship comes before anything else you can bring to GOD. One of the episodes recorded in the Gospels referring to worship is one where JESUS enters Jerusalem. The disciples are taken by the praising atmosphere. Even children were singing praise to the Lord. Obviously, not everyone was worshiping Him. With their unfaithful and evil hearts, religious leaders couldn’t worship Him.

Another place where worship had been abandoned was the very Temple of GOD. Priority was given here to sacrifices which, obviously, had to be brought in time, according to certain rules, and had to benefit the Temple, which needed to be sustained financially. Thus, a true business had flourished here; it favored and sustained the works in the Temple. But what about worship?! JESUS acts immediately and throws out everyone doing business there, restoring worship in the House of the Lord. How sad it must have been to see that, although there was sacrifice being brought, there was no worship in the House of the Lord! If we were to take a look at some of the churches today, we can see similarities in the atmosphere found in the Temple. For many, worship and godliness are no longer a priority, but instead, people prioritize doing all kinds of business and organizing events that lead to many financial gains and support for the work. Financial prosperity is called a blessing, while authentic worship in spirit and truth seems to be an impossible feat. It is, however, wonderful to know that salvation is personal and that each person can solve their spiritual problems by reading the Word of GOD daily and by applying it to their personal life, without letting themselves be influenced by religion.
