Clarifying Roles & Responsibilities God’s Way: Part II
In this series, we’re examining God’s wisdom in establishing clear roles and responsibilities for His people. His example can provide guidance for leaders as they embark on organizing their businesses.
The first step God took with the Israelites was to select and call specific people to specific roles. He selected Aaron and his sons to be priests. He also called Bezalel to be a craftsman and the Levites to care for the tabernacle.
Exodus 28:41 says, “You shall put (tunics) on Aaron your brother and on his sons with him; and you shall anoint them and ordain them and consecrate them, that they may serve Me as priests.”
The Levites were not part-time farmers. Aaron didn’t run the forges or count the land’s taxes in-between shifts at the temple. And Bezalel did not tend to the sheep on his lunch break. They were each solely dedicated to their assigned role. They became masterful in their given arena and so were able to fulfill the position successfully.
God has a specific role in mind for those called to your organization. Prayerfully consider who God has called to each of your roles.
Questions for Reflection
- What roles are currently vacant? Are there any roles you don’t have that you need? How have you adjusted roles for fluctuations in your business?
- What role best correlates with your experience and talents? Or how could you adapt your skills for your role?
