Models of Faith: Women of Virtue + ImpactSample
Day 2: Jochebed (Moses' Mother)
Scripture: Exodus 2:1-3
”1 Now a man from the house of Levi went and took as his wife a Levite woman. 2 The woman conceived and bore a son, and when she saw that he was a fine child, she hid him three months. 3 When she could hide him no longer, she took for him a basket made of bulrushes and daubed it with bitumen and pitch. She put the child in it and placed it among the reeds by the riverbank.”
Affirmation: “I trust in God’s plan, even when the future is uncertain.”
Characteristic: Faith-Filled Sacrifice
Reflection: Jochebed built an ark for Moses, using a basket to protect him on the Nile. The Hebrew word for "ark" (תֵּבָה, “tebah”) is the same word used for Noah’s Ark/Moses' Basket—symbolizing divine protection and salvation. Her faith-filled sacrifice led to Israel’s deliverance.
Call to Action: Identify a situation where you need to trust God with the unknown. Surrender it to Him in prayer today.
