Let’s Go: A 5-Day Family DevotionalSample
The Creator and the Created
Do you know how God created the universe? The Bible tells us that God took emptiness and darkness and transformed our world into a place with light, color, and beauty. He filled the sky with birds and plopped fish into the lakes and oceans. He made the animals that roam on dry land, and then He made humans like you and me!
And want to know something extra cool? When God created humans, He made them in His own image! So that means you and I are like a reflection of God. Amazing!
Of course, we aren’t exactly like God because, well, He is God. But we can reflect or show many of His character traits. God is loving, good, kind, patient, and basically all the most amazing things you can think of. While we might not always feel or act kind, patient, and loving (we’ll get into that in day 2), we can be all those things with God’s help! We can’t perfectly reflect His image on our own—we need Him to work in and through us.
Another cool way we can reflect God is by choosing to go! What do you think of when you hear the word go? Maybe you think of the start to a race . . . on your mark, get set, GO! Or maybe you think about going on a trip. Where would you love to go?
To go involves movement, and it can signal the start of something new and exciting. When God created the world, He chose to GO, and God is still on the move today. In fact, God is inviting you into His big story right now. A story of hope, love, and transformation.
One of the best ways to discover God’s story and what that means for you is through the His words in the Bible. The Bible is filled with history, poetry, and truly epic narratives. It’s a story for all people, everywhere. And it’s a story for you.
About this Plan
You are called to GO. Whether you’re age 7 or 97, you can step out into the world and show God’s love while living fully as the person He created you to be. The Gospel is all about transformation, and we experience God’s transforming power in our own lives when we know God’s Word, grow in our faith, and share the Good News with others. Are you ready? Let’s go!
