Principle #4 Principle of paying your tithe

Tithing has been one of the most debated topics in Christianity. I believe it’s still ongoing because many people, including some believers, don’t see the need to pay it in the various local churches or ministries they belong to. By the grace of God, I’ve had the privilege of working with one of my local church secretaries in the area of digitizing and checking the tithe payment records of our local church members for a while. To my surprise and sadness, many didn’t pay it. Those who did were very inconsistent. And I wondered, do believers in Christ see paying tithe as a blessing or a burden? Malachi 3:10 (NKJV) says,

“Bring all the tithes into the storehouse,

That there may be food in My house,

And try Me now in this,”

Says the LORD of hosts,

“If I will not open for you the windows of heaven

And pour out for you such blessing

That there will not be room enough to receive it.”

So, from this, paying tithe to the ministry is the believer’s responsibility. The amount each person will have to give will vary because of income variations among the congregants. However, the consistency matters very much. In addition to that, there are several benefits to paying tithes. For the sake of this plan’s brevity, I will list them here for your use.

1. God will open the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing, so much so that there will not be enough room to receive it.
2. God will rebuke the devourer for your sake so that he (the enemy) won’t destroy the fruit of your ground (the reward of your labour by unnecessary expenses) — see Malachi 3:11.

These benefits may seem untrue in your life because you’ve not started seeing them yet as you tithe. But I urge you to be consistent and see God elevate your life in finance and provision from insufficient to more than enough.
