Beyond Imagination - a Taste of HeavenSample
Heaven: The Reality
Heaven is real! When we graduate from this life, the Bible assures us that all who have received Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord will receive an inheritance that has been set aside and reserved just for them. And this place – where our inheritance is located – is called Heaven.
While the Bible mentions Heaven more than 500 times, many people have major misconceptions about what Heaven will be like. The average person still pictures Heaven as an unending Christmas pageant, complete with white robes, fluffy clouds, and harps. The reality is so much different – and so much better! In fact, there are not enough words to express the magnificence, the beauty, and the thrill of Heaven. Our language is totally inadequate to describe this place that has been uniquely and personally designed for us by our Heavenly Father, the divine Architect.
On the night before He was crucified, Jesus told His disciples not to be troubled because He was going to prepare a dwelling place for them where they would spend eternity with Him. This dwelling place, Jesus said, would be “In My Father’s House.” The truth is, this world isn’t big enough to contain us. We will never be totally fulfilled or satisfied in this world because we were made for something more. We are pilgrims, passing through this life, but when we get to Heaven we will be completely and finally at home.
God’s Word has given us just a foretaste of Heaven. The more we contemplate Heaven, the more we should anticipate the joy, the thrill, and the celebration that will be ours in our home in Heaven. It is where God abides and where His will and His Way will rule supremely. Let’s live in the assurance, the anticipation, and the confidence that is ours because Heaven is real.
Reflection questions:
- Before today, what has been your picture of Heaven?
- How does the reality of Heaven affect how you live now? Are there things you need to reconsider or change?

About this Plan
What we believe about Heaven matters as it informs the way we live each day. Much of what we think we know about Heaven, however, is based on misinformation, Hollywood movies, or something other than biblical truth. What the Bible actually teaches provides a taste of Heaven and assures us that Heaven is not only real – it is beyond anything we can picture or imagine.
