DAY 4 OF 5

The Strength of Humility

In judo, humility is a fundamental principle. Respecting the opponent, recognizing one's own limitations, and always being willing to learn are essential attitudes for any judoka. True strength is not only in physical skill but also in the ability to be humble and to learn continuously.

In the Christian life, humility is equally vital. God calls us to live in humility, to submit to one another, and to recognize that our strength comes from Him. Humility allows us to depend on God's grace and to acknowledge that without Him, we can do nothing. Jesus, our greatest example, demonstrated humility by serving others and sacrificing Himself for us on the cross.

Humility helps us build healthy relationships, learn from our failures, and grow spiritually. When we are humble, we open our hearts to God's correction and guidance, allowing Him to shape and transform us. Humility helps us recognize our needs and seek help, both from God and from those around us.

Just as in judo, where continuous learning is necessary for progress, in the Christian life, humility allows us to grow and mature in faith. By acknowledging our weaknesses and depending on God's grace, we are strengthened and empowered to live according to His will.

Challenge: Practice humility today in a challenging situation. Whether at home, at work, or in a conversation, choose humility and observe how God works in your heart. Recognize your limitations and be open to learning and growing.

Prayer: Lord, help me to wear humility in all areas of my life. May I always remember that true strength comes from You. Give me the grace to be humble and to serve others with love. Teach me to depend on You and to acknowledge my limitations, allowing Your strength to be perfected in my weakness. In Jesus' name, amen.

About this Plan

 Smooth Path

Judo came into our lives through my late husband, a judoka. When our daughter Bianca, then 9 years old, was bullied and threatened with a box cutter, we decided to enroll her in judo classes. A week later, she successfully defended herself. Today, my daughter owns a judo academy and my grandson Pedro competes at the national level. This is the inspiration for this devotional.
